Winning Road Rally of the Year for 2005 sets a high standard so Fred Bent, Anthony Preston, Bob Redhead and the rest of the CRA team have not been resting on their laurels. The 6th Rally of the Tests is set to maintain its unique and popular appeal.

In the fifties the original “Rally of the Tests”, reached the furthest corners of Britain. True to the period we follow those wheel tracks for 2006. Last year we ventured north to start from Edinburgh and this year we travel west to Wales.

From the Llandudno start we pack in three busy days before reaching the Bournemouth finish where the very first Rally of the Tests finished in 1951.

The competition begins with three tests before the traditional pre event dinner. Friday takes us to Anglesey and back through the Snowdonia National Park before lunch. The Welsh lanes provide an interesting challenge on route to England where something different on the evening section will ensure that crews have tales to tell at the overnight in Telford!

Popular venues from earlier Tests and more new locations follow. The ladies of the “Porlock W. I.” will again provide their special catering and who better to judge the “Top Hat Trophy” and “The Whistle and Flute Cup”. Last year the sartorial efforts were exceptional — we hope the spirit and style continues.

In the 1950’s the RAC International Rally of Great Britain was restricted to 200 cars. The 6th Rally of the Tests entry will be limited to a more modest 90 vehicles.
