Classic Rally Association - Training Days
 |
| Course tutor Willy Cave - Top Navigator and active competitor for over 50 years. |
Training Days Before many of our events we hold a CRA Training Day led by Willy Cave with tuition given from the competitors point of view. Willy is still an active competitor after 50 years of rallying — a recent check of the CRA Results Archive shows that he has competed on more Classic Rally Association events than any other competitor - Willy knows the business.
Any car can be used and attendance is not restricted to beginners or entrants to any particular event. Crews who have previously competed often find the day of value to brush up their knowledge.
These training days are invaluable and highly recommended for newcomers, providing a solid grounding in the rally essentials of following the rally route and keeping to the time schedule. After an illustrated theory session unravelling the mysteries of Schedule Timing, Penalty Free Lateness, Tulip Diagrams, doing a Regularity Section and more there is a short run around the lanes to put theory to practice.
Equally important as car preparation, coming to the rally school should be an essential part of rally preparation for anyone taking part on their first big rally. It is a great shame when a novice crew picks up penalties because they are not aware of how schedule timing works or the difference between 'UK' and 'Continental' style regularity sections. Training Day attendees often pick up awards on subsequent events having benefitted from the knowledge gained before the event.
